In the current society sexual politics seems more important than ever to give guidance how to deal with our own sexualities as well as in a broader political and social context. What role can sexual politics play in the current political climate? What do we mean when we talk of sexual politics anyway?
An introduction to sexual politics with experts coming from both theory and practice.
Gert Hekma
Gert Hekma teaches gay and lesbian studies in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the UvA. His specialism is sociology and history of (homo)sexuality.
He now works on an encyclopedia of perversions, on the Dutch poet Jacob Israel de Haan, on discrimination of gays and lesbians in The Netherlands, on sex capitals and on a comparison of gay emancipation after WW II in various Western countries.
Mithu M. Sanyal
Dr. des. Mithu Melanie Sanyal,was born in 1971 and studied German and English Literature with a focus on feminist and post colonial studies. She is an award winning journalist and author in Germany. In February 2009 her book Vulva - die Enthüllung des unsichtbaren Geschlechs (Vulva - unveiling the invisible sex(ual organ) will be published. She is involved with Ladyfest Dusseldorf.
Ursula de Aguila
Ursula de Aguila is chief of heading for the main French gay and lesbian magazine Têtu. In her articles and work she has written a lot about female pornography as well as lesbian culture.
Hanneke Felten
Hanneke Felten (MA.) is a board member of Femnet: the feminist network of GroenLinks (the Dutch green party). Her academic background is in Social Work and Services in Eindhoven followed by Comparative Women’s Studies at the University of Utrecht. She works as a researcher, trainer and advisor in the field of diversity and emancipation at a national knowledge centre.

The Dutch media is raving about pornofication and sexualization. Porn is ruining our lives, disturbing the sexual development of young people and still objectifies women. Sex seems to be selling it all, everywhere.
But can porn and erotica play a role in changing representations of sex and gender in a positive way? Is this commercially sellable or is it the illusion of the idealistic happy few? A discussion with women who are in control, ranging from the commercial world to the underground avant-garde.
Sandy Wenderhold
Sandy Wenderhold is the owner of the Dutch porn publishing company Sansyl. Jan Wenderhold founded Sansyl 40 years ago and left it to his daughter Sandy. Starting out as a publisher of a variety of Dutch porn magazines Sansyl is now a worldwide commercial business addressing a variety of media like films, the internet and print media.
Anna Span
Anna Span is the first female porn director in Great Britain. She started out in 1997 and is now an award winning filmmaker. Her films focus on the female enjoyment of sex and includes many different genres. Span is also a member Feminists against Censorship.
Sue du Plessis
Sue is one of the people at Mail & Female, the first female friendly sex shop in Europe, which celebrated their 20th birthday in 2008. Mail & Female is a company which combines personal ideals with a great sense of commerciality. Next to being a an on- and offline store, the ladies at Mail & Female want to change the Dutch mentality towards sexuality in a positive and uplifting way.
Murielle Scherre
Murielle Scherre is the founder of La Fille d'O, an unique lingerie collection which she designs to enhance the natural beauty of the female body. Next to that she is a writer, entrepreneur and responsible for the Devilles Harem Girls. In Belgium she is one of the fore fighters of a different approach to female sexuality and empowerment.
Wendy Delorme
Wendy Delorme is a French writer & performance artist. Author of the queer novel and feminist manifesto Quatrième Génération (Grasset, France, 2007), and a collection of short stories about sex politics & queer lives (to be published in March 2009. She is also the star of short films 'The Apple' and new film UNDERGROUND: FROM PARIS TO BERLIN from which a teaser will be shown at the festival.

In what way is masculinity portrayed in pornography? Porn is a domain where female objectification is almost a given fact, but with changing views on sexuality views on the concept of masculinity are able to change as well. How do experts from different backgrounds and fields of work deal with the concept of masculine sexuality?

Lazlo Pearlman, finalist in the Erotic Awards for Performance Artist of the Year, is a London based GenderBent, GenderQueer, Female-To-Male Trrrranny Burlesque, Vaudeville, Fetish, Porno and Cabaret performer, song stylist, director and teacher whose twenty year body of work is often but not always based on the fact that he used to be a girl...
Jaap Kooijman
Kooijman is author of Fabricating the Absolutely Fake (2008) in which he depicts the influence of American pop culture on contemporary society. Next to that he’s co-coordinator of the ASCA research project ‘What’s Queer Here?’ He used to write reviews of gay (explicit) cinema for Outrate.net
Judy Minx
Minx is a 19-year-old porn actress, sex-performer, sex-educator, and queer/feminist/sex-positive activist. Her performances deal with a variety of topics such as nudity and radical exhibitionism, femme identities, the control of science over women and queer people's bodies, BDSM and kink... The porn websites and directors she has worked for range from John B. Root's mainstream straight porn empire www.explicite-art.com, to Emilie Jouvet's hot dyke/trans porn flick "Underground", to Courtney Trouble's queer political www.nofauxxx.com, to artsy erotic www.nakedby.com.
Hier te zien Rated X live. @zark zal tijdens het Rate X festival een live stream verzorgen met o.a. diepte interviews met makers, paneldiscussies en reportages, afgewisseld met trailers en feature presentaties. The first Dutch film festival entirely dedicated to alternative, artistic and radical erotica, returns! Big-screen sexuality coming from a myriad of different angles and artistic perspectives, to celebrate a positive appreciation of the erotic in all of its richness and diversity.

Inmiddels is van een groot deel van de bands een eerste video online gezet. De andere video's zullen de komende tijd volgen zodat uiteindelijk het hele festival online te beluisteren en te zien zal zijn.
Het h-ot scenes festival was een groot succes. Ondanks het mooie weer wist toch een groot aantal muziekliefhebbers de weg te vinden naar OT301 aan de Overtoom in Amsterdam. Niet alleen het publiek in de zaal kon genieten van een gevarieerd programma, op de live@zark pagina waren alle concerten live te volgen.
We hebben opnamen gemaakt van de live mix. Een aantal opnames van de stream staan op de recorded sessions pagina. Binnenkort zullen hier ook de andere opnames van de live edits te zien zijn van Maskesmachine (BE), Monokino, The quotes, Mark Wilson, OW , GoodDogHappyMan, Eva Braun, Capacocha en Gram om maar een paar te noemen.
